Worth a Thousand Words A Novel Jubilant Soul Stacy Hawkins Adams 9780800732677 Books Reviews
The book is great! The story plots deal with a lot of issues in society today, such as what career choices to make, getting married, dealing with problems in a marriage, family and children, and etc. Each time I read a chapter, could not wait to read the next! I would recommend this book to others.
Mrs Hawkins Adams is turning into my new favorite author. I love how each book that I have read so far has a gentle message without sounding preachy. Worth a Thousand Words was paced perfectly and didn't leave me wanting to skim and skip through unnecessary descriptions. I felt as if I was in the middle of the story with the fictional characters going about their daily lives. I found myself pulling for them, cheering out loud, laughing out loud, and all the other emotions.
I absolutely recommend this book!
I just finished reading both "The Someday List" and "Worth a thousand words" and they were both enlightening! I loved the characters and how Ms. Adams speaks to the reader in the situations that a character faces. She included some great advice for marriages, for those who want to give their lives to the Lord and those who were true believers in what God can and will do if they have faith. Indigo truly listened to what God was putting on her heart, and followed it. She dealt with a lot over the summer but grew from it immensely. Thank you so much for such inspirational reads and I am waiting anxiously for the next one in the "Jubilant Soul" series! Keep up the good work and may God continue to bless you!
Indigo Burns and Brian Harper dated three years in college. Brian asks Indigo to marry him and she says yes to his proposal. Then Brian goes off to Officer Candidate School so he can then move on to flight training school. Indigo's left in her hometown of Jubilant, Texas dealing with one issue after another and it begins to look like her life plan will have to be put on hold. Will she and Brian be able to work things out so Indigo will not have to give up on her dreams? Does Brian even care about her dreams? And why is he so eager to get Indigo to the alter in the first place?
This is Book Two in the Jubilant Soul series and it is a good read. Rachelle Covington and Aunt Melba are back and I like them; especially Aunt Melba. Things happened that I did not expect; some sad, some surprising. Serious issues were tackled and important lessons were taught.
Indigo Burns, a recent college graduate is excited about her future. Summer internship and graduate school has Indigo on top of the world. Indigo’s boyfriend; Brian proposed which creates a setback in Indigo’s plans. Brian is headed off to the Navy and Indigo is headed to graduate school to become an awesome photographer. Indigo has to make some decisions about what she wants in life. Brian has a secret that he want to tell, but is afraid to tell Indigo. There are times when we will struggle, but we must give it to God!!!! Awesome job!!!
Indigo just graduated from college with honors and has been accepted into grad school in the Fall. She has big dreams and a bright future ahead of her. Her handsome fiancé has dreams of his own; he's working to be a Navy fighter pilot.
Can they both pursue their personal dreams hundreds of miles apart and still be together? They find the road to fulfilling one's goals is not always a straight one, even when love should seem to carve a path. Unexpected things happen and decisions have to be made by all the characters.
I enjoyed this book because I think we live in uncertain times. Many of us know people who are wrestling with decisions they never thought they'd have to make about their finances, families and careers, so it's timely. Stacy Hawkins Adams has done a wonderful job at bringing that reality home. The lessons of hope and faith are not wasted in this beautifully written, inspiring novel.
Like The Someday List, it's an absolute must read.
Ms Adams' wisdom drips from the pages of this book, making me love Indigo's story. I enjoyed reading a story about characters with a good level of maturity (no unending angst), who were relatable, and dealt with real issues. However, I felt like the story ended abruptly and left me wanting to know what happens next with Indigo. I realise that this book is part of a series, but why not complete Indigo's story in this book?
